Price by size of job

Fantastic Services, 2026, gives these prices outside London:

  • one or two rooms: £100 to £150
  • a whole home: £150 to £220
  • a two-visit treatment: £170 to £220

Heavier cases need a second visit two to three weeks later, so ask whether it is included in the quote. Flea treatment explains what happens on each visit.

Why guides disagree

In 2026 PestPro Index (March) gives £80 to £150 and PestMatch £80 to £180. howmuchshoulditcost gives £100 to £300, with an average of £180. The lower figures usually cover a single small treatment. Always ask what the quote includes, and whether it covers a follow-up visit.

London and the South East

Expect to pay 20 to 30% more in London and the South East: £130 to £260 according to Fantastic Services.

What affects the price

Three things move the price: the number of rooms, how heavy the infestation is and whether a second visit is needed. A one-room job sits at the bottom of the range, while a whole home with a follow-up sits at the top. Prices in London run 20 to 30% higher. A firm that surveys first can give a firmer quote than one that prices over the phone.

The council option

Most councils treat fleas for a fee, and the prices vary a lot. Test Valley charges £86.10 for up to three bedrooms (2026/27), Colchester £140 (2026/27), Lancaster £121 (2025/26) and Solihull £232. Check whether you must be at home and how many bedrooms the price covers. Our council pest control page shows what yours offers.

Ways to keep the cost down

You can reduce the job before the technician arrives. Vacuum, wash soft furnishings hot and have the pet treated by your vet. Ask for a quote that states the number of visits and the guarantee period. Compare it with your council's fee, which is often lower, though you may need to be at home for the visit.

The pet is a separate cost

None of these prices covers treating the pet. Ask your vet about the animal, and tell the pest controller about all pets, fish tanks and young children before you book.

Who pays in a rented home

A tenant whose pets bring in fleas will usually be asked to pay. Fleas left by a previous occupier, or linked to the building, are the landlord's. Pests are an HHSRS hazard, so report it in writing. To try a small problem first, see the DIY guide.
