Typical prices

The national range for a mole catcher is about £80 to £280 a job, with an average of £150 (howmuchshoulditcost, 2026). That covers an ordinary domestic garden. Large lawns, paddocks and sports turf cost more because there is more ground to survey and trap.

No price guide we checked gives a London figure for moles, and one large guide says it has no mole data at all. Treat any single national figure with care and get two quotes.

Per mole or per garden

Mole catchers price in two ways, and the headline number means different things in each.

  • Per mole. A Surrey catcher charges £150 for the first mole on a domestic job, with discounts for further moles. Agricultural work is cheaper per mole. That page carries a 2023 copyright date, so check current prices.
  • Per garden or job. One fee covers the work whatever the number of moles caught.

Ask which model your quote uses before you compare prices. A £150 per-mole quote and a £150 per-garden quote are not the same.

No mole, no fee

The common promise is no mole, no fee. You pay only if the catcher catches a mole. It is a good sign, but it is not a time-based warranty. A new mole often moves into a vacated territory, so ask whether a repeat visit is covered and for how long.

A catcher usually surveys, sets traps and then makes a few follow-up checks over about a week or two. Ask if those checks are included in the quote.

What changes the price

  • The size of the ground. Large lawns and paddocks cost more.
  • The number of moles. Per-mole pricing rises with each extra one.
  • Access. Awkward or very wet ground takes longer.
  • Travel. Rural catchers may add a call-out charge.

These are judgement rather than published figures. Check that the quote says what is included.

Council and cheaper options

Councils rarely deal with moles. A couple of councils, such as Solihull and Lancaster, will quote on request, but most do not treat them. See our council pest control guide. If you want to try without paying, our guide to getting rid of moles covers what works and what is lawful. To find out what a catcher does, read about mole catching.
