Typical prices
A two-to-three visit plan costs £178 to £280 outside London and £215 to £340 in London and the South East. Most people pay between £120 and £300. A single visit costs £120 to £160, or £145 to £190 in London, and a treatment that includes proofing is £250 to £350 or more. All prices include VAT.
Other guides give a lower range. howmuchshoulditcost puts mouse control at £100 to £300, averaging £175, and PestMatch says £120 to £200. PestPro Index quotes £80 to £150 for two or three visits, but that is the bottom of the market, so treat a quote that low with care.
What drives the price
Price depends on how many visits are needed, how big the property is, and how hard it is to reach the mice. Mice in the loft or a cavity cost more than mice in a kitchen cupboard. London and the South East are about 20% dearer.
A single visit is cheaper but rarely enough. Mice breed quickly, so a firm needs to return and check. A plan with follow-up checks costs more upfront and tends to give a better result.
Proofing is the extra
Proofing, which closes the gaps mice use, is the single biggest factor in a lasting result. It is often charged separately, which is why the treat-and-proof figure is higher. Without it, a new group can move in. Ask for it to be itemised so you can compare. For the visits themselves, see our mouse control page.
Council mouse control
Most councils treat mice, usually on the same fee as rats. Bolton has treated rats and mice free since 2 April 2024. See council pest control for the fee in your area. Ring your council before you book privately.
Comparing quotes
Ask each firm how many visits the price covers, whether proofing is included, how long the guarantee lasts and what a free return covers. A quote should say all of this in writing.
If you rent, structural entry is usually the landlord's responsibility, so tell them before you pay. Before you book, check it is mice with our identification guide, or try the DIY methods for a few mice.
