The spread is wide, from £150 for clearance to £720 in London with proofing. A single squirrel price hides that. Ask which parts a quote covers.

Treat the lowest figure with care. A cheap trapping price that leaves out proofing may mean a second bill when new squirrels use the same gap.

What is included and what is extra

A typical quote includes the survey, trap set-up, return visits and confirmation that the loft is clear. Roofline sealing and insulation replacement are extra. Proofing with mesh is the part that adds the most.

Ask the firm to list each step, the number of return visits and the proofing guarantee. The guides we checked did not state a standard guarantee, so ask for it in writing.

What changes the price
